Upcoming International Women’s Week Events

Be on the look out for upcoming International Women’s Week events

International Women’s Day is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women. First celebrated in 1911, International Women’s Day honors the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action. There are far too many issues of importance to women to fit into a single day, so at WSU we celebrate the entire week as part of Women’s History Month. Each year, the WSU International Women’s Week Committee works together to develop a calendar of events celebrating women’s challenges and achievements worldwide.

The International Women’s Week Planning committee puts on many events during the week, including the International Women’s Week Social. The International Women’s Week Social is an informal social celebrating International Women’s Week. This event features community members staff and faculty, and students who are allies and advocates for women all over. This event also honors several women who work for equality and justice here and abroad.
